Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Service
October is SIDS Awareness Month and Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Month.
To honor this month Because of Cody... hosts a Remembrance Service on or near October 15th.
October 15th has been set aside as a day to remember the angel babies we've lost. It is called the Wave of Light. Everyone is encouraged to light a candle at 7pm on this day in memory of pregnancies or infants lost. Keep the candle lit for an hour then blow it out. The person in the next time zone will light their candle. If all time zones do this, a candle will be lit for 24 hours & there will be a continuous wave of light.
During ourPregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Service we light the Christ candle at 7pm. Everyone is then invited to come up to the alter to light a candle in memory of their loss or losses. We also take time to read out loud all of the pregnancy and infant loss names.

Our service is held at theAmerican Lutheran Church, 1560 Career Center Road in Bourbonnais, IL. The service starts at 6:30pm and lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Refreshments are served after the service.

Walk for SIDS
The Annual Walk for SIDS in Memory of All Babies Lost to SIDS takes place the last Sunday afternoon in September at the Perry Farm in Bourbonnais, IL. Individuals, families, groups and/or businesses are all welcome to participate in our Walk for SIDS. Online Registration usually begins a couple of months before the Walk.
Because of Cody... is considering including a Run along with our Walk this year. Since none of the Board Members have ever organized a Run before, they are seeking volunteers to help them out, by sharing some tips, pointing them in the right direction & helping organize this event. Here are some other ways you could get involved with the Walk for SIDS:
- Promotion of the Walk (on a small scale, by spreading the word amongst your friends & on a larger scale, by helping us contact local radio stations, newspapers & other media sources).
- Organizing & preparing for the Walk (there are many details involved in this that take time, if multiple people would be willing to help, it would be so much easier).
- Sharing any ideas you have on how to make the Walk a more successful event.
- Volunteering at the Walk (in order for the Registration process to run smoothly, multiple volunteers are needed).

Golf Outing
The Annual Golf Outing is a great day and loads of fun. It is typically held the 2nd Saturday in July at Oak Springs Golf Club in St. Anne, IL.
There are many ways to get involved in the Golf Outing. The most obvious way is of course by golfing in our outing & letting your friends know about it. Other ways to get involved are:
- Being a sponsor for the outing. (details below)
- Donating an item or a basket for our Raffle.
- Helping seek donations from local businesses or individuals.
- Helping plan and organize the outing.
- Volunteering at the outing.
- Sharing your ideas about how we can make the outing a bigger success.
Remember the best way to help is by helping us spread the word about our Golf Outing.

Golf Outing Details
- Golfer's fee includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, range balls, lunch, dinner and lots of fun!
